Dr. Ralf Wissen has been managing director and founding partner of r2b energy consulting since 2009. 

His consulting work at r2b focuses on forecasting the development of (regional) energy supply, sector coupling, as well as the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of renewable energy subsidy schemes and the integration of renewable energies into the electricity market. In addition to decarbonization and self-supply strategies for energy consumers, his other areas of expertise include analyses of the effects of energy and climate policy frameworks, such as the levy and remuneration system or CO2 pricing. Over the past 20 years, Ralf has carried out and been responsible for numerous projects for public clients as well as associations and companies. 

Before founding r2b, he spent many years conducting research and consulting work at the Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne (EWI), where he dealt intensively with economic issues relating to the development of electricity markets and the expansion and integration of renewable energies. Ralf studied economics at the University of Cologne, specializing in energy economics, and earned his doctoral degree (Dr. rer. pol.) under Prof. Dr. Axel Ockenfels for his research work on “Modelling of European subsidy systems for renewable energies”.
